How to connect a Pickup Pod to Ethernet

By default, Pickup Pods connect to the Internet through a cellular network (specifically, Verizon 4G). However, a pod can connect to a WiFi network or with an Ethernet cable. This article explains how to connect a pod with an Ethernet cable. To connect a pod to a WiFi network, see the article "How to connect a Pickup Pod to a WiFi network."

To connect a pod with an Ethernet cable, the following conditions must be met:

  • the Ethernet network cannot have a firewall that prevents external devices from connecting;

  • the Ethernet network cannot require users to accept terms and conditions;

  • the Ethernet network cannot require users to register.

  • Port TCP 8883 should be open.

If the Ethernet network meets these conditions, it should be possible to connect a pod to the network by following these steps:

  1. Plug the Ethernet cable into the pod. The plug inlet is located on the back of the pod, in the center, about 6.5" inches above the ground.
  2. The pod will connect to the Ethernet network automatically.
